Job Details

Strategic Leadership & Team Management

  • Develop and execute short-to-medium-term financial strategies aligned with corporate goals.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team, ensuring they have the tools and resources to excel.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the finance department.

Financial Control & Reporting

  • Oversee the preparation of timely, accurate, and compliant financial statements and management reports.
  • Ensure adherence to IFRS and regulatory standards (NAICOM, FRCN, FIRS).
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes, including reconciliations, payroll reviews, and cash flow management.

Regulatory & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, external auditors, and tax authorities.
  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of statutory returns, ensuring full compliance with NAICOM and other regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a key advisor to the CFO and executive team, providing insights that support strategic decision-making.

Operational Excellence

  • Streamline financial systems, processes, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational improvements and exceed service delivery expectations.
  • Manage claims, commissions, reimbursements, and treasury activities to optimize liquidity and financial health.

Governance & Risk Management

  • Implement and uphold robust internal controls and corporate governance standards.
  • Address audit findings proactively and develop action plans to mitigate financial risks.
  • Participate in cross-functional committees to support organizational initiatives.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional certification: ACA, ACCA, or CFA (required).
  • Master’s degree or MBA is a strong advantage.

Experience

  • 5–7 years of progressive finance experience, with a proven track record in the insurance industry or a Big 4 consulting firm.
  • Deep understanding of NAICOM regulations, IFRS 17, and Nigerian tax laws.
  • Experience leading teams and managing stakeholder relationships in a regulated environment.
